Fetch Storage, a web startup, is reinventing the conventional storage industry by exceedingly integrating tech innovations in it. The platform brings the convenience of a 7000 sq. ft. storage facility, a stunning fleet of delivery trucks, digital convenience, and hands-on service. Led by Jesse Mastro, Christian Baxter, and Brij Patel, the team at Fetch is seeking to bring new technology, like personal online inventory management, into "old models" like the property storage market. Just like SaaS products store your digital stuff in the cloud and allow you to select what you need, when you need it, so Fetch does for your physical things utilizing a personalized web based control panel and a fleet of delivery trucks.

I met up with Jesse and Christian at WorkBar Boston, who were kind enough to let us record our meeting in their lounge during one of their free co-working days.

Merging Advanced Solutions with Existing Models

The core idea behind Fetch is to merge tech-rich solutions with existing or ‘old’ industry models. The users can utilize Fetch, and its web-based control panel for managing any items that they have ‘stored’, gaining access to features such as controlling what items are delivered to them, and when. Not only is this feature useful for individual users, it is also very nifty for businesses, extending a user-friendly interface, and easy accessibility to storage facilities from anywhere.

The platform aims to leverage innovative technology, integrating it with the property storage sector, thereby boosting efficiency. It thus allows users to manage their inventory from anywhere, emerging as a practical solution for a commonly faced challenge- finding suitable storage facilities, storing products that are not needed, and making time to retrieve them when needed.

Introducing Cutting-Edge Features

Determined to transform the storage industry, Fetch Storage has introduced numerous cutting-edge features like inventory management. This feature gives users a private dashboard, which helps them keep track of every stored item, and manage it efficiently, and remotely. Images, descriptions, and details of all stored items can be easily added on the dashboard, offering a straightforward user-experience.

But what makes it even more effective and oh so popular among the users is the unique delivery system. Fetch’s fleet of delivery trucks make it simple for users to schedule when they want their products to be delivered to them, or when they want the products picked up to be kept in storage. So, no more running back and forth to the storage facility to put things in or take things out. All the users need to do is put in a request for storing new stuff or taking it out, and the delivery partners do the rest. Scheduling ability means that you can choose what time suits your schedule, and not worry about when the products are delivered to you, or wait around all day for the pickup to be completed.

Identifying Opportunities For Funding

The team is currently looking for funding, and is doing so along with the many teams participating in the Mass Challenge. They will need that funding if they ever hope to grow beyond their initial Boston-based geographic location. But it's not just the physical infrastructure they are going to need. In order to make this work, a smart automation of the way items are checked in, stored, requested, scheduled for delivery and arrived on time is not something for the faint of heart.

Actually, I would say that getting cheap storage space and delivery trucks is probably not one of their largest problems. But the team are off to a great start, with a few employees and over 100 paying customers, including several local businesses such as the Boston Metro Newspaper, that use Fetch to store the paper's back issues.

Learning

The journey and story of Fetch Storage shines a light on how digital convenience is the key to reshaping industries. It tells how identifying potential of advancement in traditional services can help in creating a viable business that addresses a real issue, increase accessibility to specific services, and bring modernity to a domain that remains largely untouched.
